- Meeting was called
to order at 7:20 p.m. by Cliff McGuire in the absence of President Lee
Heinzman.
- Minutes from the
previous meeting were accepted as written by Patty McGuire and seconded by
Bette Heinzman
- Craig Lifland
advised that as of 5/14/08 the chapter had $8,170 in its treasury with all
bills accounted for and paid.
- Sponsor money is
slow in coming in – majority is in. We welcome Ashcroft Inc as a sponsor
this year.
- Bette advised that
the flyer has been sent to the membership regarding the upcoming Wooden Boat
Show in Mystic the weekend of June 27-29, 2008. Replies are starting to
come in about manning the booth. We will have a full compliment of Mahogany
Memories “ship’s store” for sale.
- ACBS will be giving
us a set of tumblers and a cooler for those signing up that day; banners and
burgees are forthcoming. ACBS will pay for lunch for those manning the
booth. Don Groeschner will be bringing his boat.
- There was a
discussion of who will man the booth on the various days.
- Bette to call
Shannon to see if we can store the totes overnight. Bette to bring tables
and cloths. Mike will be bringing his tent.
- Everything appears
to be falling into place with our show on July 12th. Cliff and Patty
McGuire have been in touch with Beth Currie at the CT River Museum as well
as Andrea (our event planner)
- The tent for the
July 12th show has been ordered and it will be a 30 x 60; tables, chairs,
etc. have also been ordered.
- Press releases are
just about completed; a press release was sent to Soundings for their June
issue.
- Ed Dombroskas will
check into a “TV Bumper” for Saturday July 12th. Ed and Patty will
coordinate the press releases and get them to Ed and Beth. Cliff has
coordinated everything with Pusser’s and they will again host our cocktail
party on Saturday July 12th as well as provide the awards.
- Contact and a $500
deposit has been given to “Porky Pete’s” of Essex for our Saturday BBQ.
Lion’s Club will be doing the cookout on Friday.
- The museum will be
doing the lunch on Saturday with the vendor to be determined by the museum.
- Friday and Saturday
the museum will provide the bar.
- Sunday everyone is
on their own as far as food and beverages.
- It was agreed that
we would have Dunkin Donuts and “boxes of Joe” for Saturday
- Cocktail party on
Saturday will be 5-6:30 p.m. Bartenders will be Anne Marie/Ed and
Patty/Cliff.
- Bob Fleming advises
that everything is set for docking.
- Craig Lifland will
call the Town Selectman regarding the launch area.
- Bette has provided
Craig with the name and phone number on the insurance rider.
- Patty McGuire is
staining/painting the plaques; Lee will check the inventory of the small
plaques that are affixed onto the wooden plaques.
- Wes advised that
Fred Marks will again be the Chief Judge – other names for judges will be
provided shortly.
- We will provide the
judges with tee shirts and lunch
- Ed Dombroskas
advised about the credit card machine and it was voted to get one for use at
the show.
- Credit card account
will be opened up with Renaissance Associates, per Ed Dombroskas; they take
everything except A/E and Discover Card. Ed will negotiate the fee. They
will get 2% of the sale and usually a 10% per month administrative fee.
- The poster is being
printed; the small one is printed and has been given to board members.
Bette will be sending a letter along with a small poster to all sponsors
under Jeff Gordon’s name.
- Wes and Gail advised
that the Fall Frolic will be on September 20th with a rain date of September
27th.
- Lee will speak with
the three model makers regarding exhibiting at the show.
- Bette has contacted
Steve Ray (Star Distributing) – no word back.
- Patty and Cliff to
check with Beth at museum to see who they will be contacting, i.e., selling
of bookings, Sea Scouts, etc.
- Museum responsible
for tent, grill, port-o-potty, tables/chairs, banners, Friday and Saturday
night bar.
- Bette ordered 10 new
ACBS hats.
- SNEC will continue
the President’s Award and will contact Woodbury Pewter to see what they
have.
- The poster has been
printed with all sponsors.
- “Chinese Auction” to
take place Saturday July 12th at 3:00 – open to the general public. Items
for raffle needed by Monday June 23rd.
- It was decided to
dedicate the show to Barry White and Melinda McGurl – both enthusiastic
wooden boaters.
- Insurance
endorsement has been provided to Craig from headquarters.
- Craig to see about
items from Hagerty like they provided last year.
- Fall annual dinner
was tabled for now.
- Card from Rob Sutton
was read thanking SNEC for the flowers for Melinda McGurl.
Meeting was adjourned at
9:20 p.m.

MEETING WILL BE ON JULY 18TH AT 6:00 P.M. SHARP AT THE CT RIVER MUSEUM.
